To The Moon and Back |Week 10/52

Tuesday, March 11th, 2014

I have been having some blog issues, so I missed last week. :( I am back on it this week though and I will NOT miss another week! (I’ll keep telling myself that)

Since last time, my “baby” girl turned 8. I know it is SO cliche’ and you hear it all of the time, but honestly…WHERE does the time go? She was just a baby! Now she is our sweet, loving, caring, sensitive and sassy 8 year old. Love her to pieces!

Speaking of babies…he is my “baby”…soon to be 5. I cry. Here is is with his little puppy that he won at the fair this weekend. He is a major cuddle bug, if you couldn’t tell. LOVE HIM!

Well well. Here we are again. No blog posts in between my To the Moon and Back posts. It’s hard to believe it’s been a week. And a very BUSY one at that! All personal, all good…but still.

I have to admit, I was kind of random with my images this week. But it really tells a story of who my kids are.

First up, sweet Emma Lou. She is American Girl Doll OBSESSED. So much so, that her sleepover for her EIGHTH birthday this weekend is AG themed. Sigh.

Then there is my baby boy. He just likes to run. And play. And scream. And be silly.

As always, check out the rest of the circle! Lots of talent going on up in here…click HERE to see Nikki Matthews’ beautiful work and children!

This week I had the privilege of photographing my son’s entire preschool. Some people say I’m crazy, but I rather enjoy all of those little faces! It’s definitely a challenge to capture over 80 children individually, so I had a few tricks up my sleeve. One of them was to incorporate some off camera lighting outdoors. SO, I had to practice a little and who better to use than my own kiddos?

I decided to do the off camera flash thing inside with them and we had some fun!

Tuesday, January 28th, 2014

Well here we are. Four weeks into 2014. I know it’s said all of the time and I KNOW it’s cliche’ but really…where does the time go?!?!

This past week was a whirlwind and passed in the blink of an eye. We decided to take a trip to Disney since it had been 2 year since our last visit and the kids were 5 and 2 at the time. We took my parents for their birthdays and I’m so glad they could make it. As I mentioned before, time is fleeting and I love to spend as much time with them as possible these days.

With that said, I captured candids this week. Life as it is. They are both sort of somber shots, but I love them just the same. August is in deep thought in his image, and Emma is relaxing with her blanket (and thumb).

Have a mentioned how thrilled I am to be participating in this project? LOVE.IT!

It would appear that I like to compose my images off to the right. :)

With school back in session full swing and my business back in full effect after the break, it was a bit harder to get some shots of my kiddos. BUT, I promised myself when this started that I would just be shooting them as they are, in everyday life. So there ya have it.

I was sitting with my baby girl and she asked if she could hear the ocean in the shell she had and put it to her ear. So sweet. So innocent. I had to run and grab my camera and snap a few. I LOVE love her freckles, gorgeous eyes and lashes, and red lips. All if which she got NONE from me.

My sweet, little guy hasn’t been feeling all that great the last few days, so I took advantage of some sleepy shots while he slept in one morning. All together now….aaawwwww. I love the detail in his arm in the second shot, you can see the sleep creases.

As with every week in this blog circle, if you’d like to check out some gorgeous work, head on over to Carrie Terron’s, (Las Vegas Photographer) blog!

Beautiful Family…and an announcement!

Friday, November 22nd, 2013

I can’t believe I never blogged this gorgeous family. They are great friends of ours and I always look forward to their sessions b/c they are completely laid back and go with the flow…they tell me to do my thing and that’s just what I do–and they are ALWAYS so grateful. LOVE them to pieces!

Ok ok…NOW onto my announcement!!

Hallmark (yes THE Hallmark…as in greeting cards!) came across their beautiful images and contacted me. Seems they wanted to purchase their images, along with some others, to use for advertising!!! My first reaction was…huh? is this a joke? Once I got over the initial shock, I was SO excited! Beyond excited, I was ecstatic!

I wanted to share this with all of my clients, friends, family and those who follow my work. I am humbled, honored and blessed to call this business my own. I love it. Yes, even during my busy season. :) This “job” has enabled me to be home, be flexible and still be present for my family. I couldn’t have built this business without the help and support I receive daily from my husband (really, I wouldn’t be in business if it weren’t for him!), my family, my friends and my fans. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for allowing me to share my passion with you, and for supporting me in it. xoxo

Now onto their beautiful images that you may see online at Hallmark OR in the stores!

And babies make 5…{Fort Myers Maternity and Newborn Photographer}

Tuesday, October 1st, 2013

How is it possible i’ve been in business almost five years and never had the opportunity to photograph TWINS?!?! Well, my luck has changed! :)

Can you believe how beautiful this mama is? She is 35 weeks pregnant with twins in these photos…what??? I didn’t look that good with one baby…wait…I don’t look that good NOT pregnant!

Ah em…excuse the image overload…I simply could not narrow it down anymore!

First up, my fav from the shoot. I had plans for this shot, then big brother peeked through…and I captured it! What a sweet face…

This here is truly mom’s personality…she is always smiling and happy. I never ONCE heard her complain throughout her pregnancy…even at 40+ weeks…did I mention she is having twins??

This is one of my favorites from the shoot…Oh the face! OH the light! Oh the sailboat! (yes it’s real and was really there!)

Not one to normally over edit, I really wanted to try something different with this shot. The sky was really pretty but the water brown. So I decided to do some color overlay to spruce up the water color and it blossomed from there. And yes, the birds are real. What really struck me was that there were TWO birds. Oh the symbolism. :)

And after many weeks of waiting (over 40!), Stella and Eden made their debut. They are both so precious and so different!

I saved this collage for last. Every time I look at this series I just DIE LAUGHING! I don’t think I need to narrate the sequence of events here…the images speak for themselves!!

Bless you if you’ve made it this far! I hope you enjoyed this beautiful family…I truly had the best time capturing their story!

Warmth {Fort Myers Beach Family Photographer}

Monday, August 26th, 2013

I titled this post “warmth” for so many reasons. From the warmth of the day we shot this session, the warmth of the processing used for the images–I feel the title fits the post well. But most of all, what I was thinking of when I titled it, was this family. Such a sweet and warm bunch…and it just exudes in their images! No more words necessary, see for yourself. :)

I can’t stop looking at this image…I want one of my family just like this! I love the fun and casual vibe of it…

Sigh. If you have children, you know these moments are SO sweet and will not last forever…

This little guys loves his Mama!

And sea creatures…a lot. :)

So this little guy was a tough nut to crack, but once he did, he was all smiles!

You can see how skeptical he is here…

But then…smiles in abundance!

They were such a FUN couple and up for anything…LOVE families like this!

And this may be one of my most favorite images I’ve ever taken!

Thank you Jon and Amy for such a FUN shoot. You all have such a warmth about you that just glows in these images.
