To The Moon and Back |Week 10/52

March 11th, 2014

I have been having some blog issues, so I missed last week. :( I am back on it this week though and I will NOT miss another week! (I’ll keep telling myself that)

Since last time, my “baby” girl turned 8. I know it is SO cliche’ and you hear it all of the time, but honestly…WHERE does the time go? She was just a baby! Now she is our sweet, loving, caring, sensitive and sassy 8 year old. Love her to pieces!

Speaking of babies…he is my “baby”…soon to be 5. I cry. Here is is with his little puppy that he won at the fair this weekend. He is a major cuddle bug, if you couldn’t tell. LOVE HIM!

Well well. Here we are again. No blog posts in between my To the Moon and Back posts. It’s hard to believe it’s been a week. And a very BUSY one at that! All personal, all good…but still.

I have to admit, I was kind of random with my images this week. But it really tells a story of who my kids are.

First up, sweet Emma Lou. She is American Girl Doll OBSESSED. So much so, that her sleepover for her EIGHTH birthday this weekend is AG themed. Sigh.

Then there is my baby boy. He just likes to run. And play. And scream. And be silly.

As always, check out the rest of the circle! Lots of talent going on up in here…click HERE to see Nikki Matthews’ beautiful work and children!

This week I had the privilege of photographing my son’s entire preschool. Some people say I’m crazy, but I rather enjoy all of those little faces! It’s definitely a challenge to capture over 80 children individually, so I had a few tricks up my sleeve. One of them was to incorporate some off camera lighting outdoors. SO, I had to practice a little and who better to use than my own kiddos?

I decided to do the off camera flash thing inside with them and we had some fun!

January 28th, 2014

Well here we are. Four weeks into 2014. I know it’s said all of the time and I KNOW it’s cliche’ but really…where does the time go?!?!

This past week was a whirlwind and passed in the blink of an eye. We decided to take a trip to Disney since it had been 2 year since our last visit and the kids were 5 and 2 at the time. We took my parents for their birthdays and I’m so glad they could make it. As I mentioned before, time is fleeting and I love to spend as much time with them as possible these days.

With that said, I captured candids this week. Life as it is. They are both sort of somber shots, but I love them just the same. August is in deep thought in his image, and Emma is relaxing with her blanket (and thumb).

Have a mentioned how thrilled I am to be participating in this project? LOVE.IT!

It would appear that I like to compose my images off to the right. :)

January 21st, 2014

With school back in session full swing and my business back in full effect after the break, it was a bit harder to get some shots of my kiddos. BUT, I promised myself when this started that I would just be shooting them as they are, in everyday life. So there ya have it.

I was sitting with my baby girl and she asked if she could hear the ocean in the shell she had and put it to her ear. So sweet. So innocent. I had to run and grab my camera and snap a few. I LOVE love her freckles, gorgeous eyes and lashes, and red lips. All if which she got NONE from me.

My sweet, little guy hasn’t been feeling all that great the last few days, so I took advantage of some sleepy shots while he slept in one morning. All together now….aaawwwww. I love the detail in his arm in the second shot, you can see the sleep creases.

As with every week in this blog circle, if you’d like to check out some gorgeous work, head on over to Carrie Terron’s, (Las Vegas Photographer) blog!

January 15th, 2014

The night of this session, was hands down, the most beautiful evening on which I’ve ever had the privilege to “work”. On the beach at that. Yeah, I’m pretty lucky. While going through the images, I could not get over the beauty of the colors in every.single.shot. I’ll let you see for yourself. This family was a dream to photograph, up for anything and lots of fun!

You can expect more blog posts from me in the future. ;)

January 13th, 2014

New year. New project. And a personal one at that. I have been wanting to commit to a personal project involving photography for a few years now and I feel so honored to have been asked by an extremely talented group of photographers from around the country to participate in a blog circle. Every week we will post photos of our OWN children. I am so pumped about this. At the end of the year I plan to make an album of them. MY OWN ALBUM! :) Can you tell I’m excited? I can’t wait to play with all kinds of different light and angles.

These images were taken on different days but I captured the same mood from both of them…and I love it.

First up: my dear, sweet Emma Leigh. Who I also refer to as Emma Lou…or Lou…and mostly just Lulu. She has the most sensitive heart of anybody I know. She feels everything. And deeply. I have to remind myself to not dismiss her feelings. Yes, she is dramatic, but to her, what’s bothering her is a big deal in her young life. She reminds me daily to stop and slow down; notice the beauty in everyday. She is a daydreamer with an imagination that reaches to infinity and back again.

And then there is my “baby”. August James. Who I also refer to as Buddy, Bubba, Boobear or Augie. Talk about sweet through and through. He makes my heart swoon when he hugs me, asks me to lay down with him, kisses me anywhere and anytime, and tells me he’s going to marry me when he grows up–and buy me flowers. I always said I didn’t want a boy…what would I do with a boy? They are smelly. And weird. Well, I was very wrong…this little guy has stolen my heart forever.

Beautiful Family…and an announcement!

November 22nd, 2013

I can’t believe I never blogged this gorgeous family. They are great friends of ours and I always look forward to their sessions b/c they are completely laid back and go with the flow…they tell me to do my thing and that’s just what I do–and they are ALWAYS so grateful. LOVE them to pieces!

Ok ok…NOW onto my announcement!!

Hallmark (yes THE Hallmark…as in greeting cards!) came across their beautiful images and contacted me. Seems they wanted to purchase their images, along with some others, to use for advertising!!! My first reaction was…huh? is this a joke? Once I got over the initial shock, I was SO excited! Beyond excited, I was ecstatic!

I wanted to share this with all of my clients, friends, family and those who follow my work. I am humbled, honored and blessed to call this business my own. I love it. Yes, even during my busy season. :) This “job” has enabled me to be home, be flexible and still be present for my family. I couldn’t have built this business without the help and support I receive daily from my husband (really, I wouldn’t be in business if it weren’t for him!), my family, my friends and my fans. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for allowing me to share my passion with you, and for supporting me in it. xoxo

Now onto their beautiful images that you may see online at Hallmark OR in the stores!
